Calian Iluminator Software
The Illuminator is an enterprise-level software application designed for multi-site carrier monitoring and centralized management of satellite carriers across a distributed network of Decimator Spectrum Analyzers. It is a lightweight yet powerful tool that provides operators with real-time and historical performance metrics for dozens or hundreds of carriers across multiple sites.
Technical Features
The Illuminator enables monitoring and analysis of the following carrier parameters:
- Band Power – total received power over a defined frequency range.
- SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) – real-time signal quality measurement.
- Presence of a Carrier – detection of whether an expected carrier is present or missing.
- Center Frequency – verification that the carrier is on its assigned frequency.
- EIRP (Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power) – effective transmitted power inferred at the measurement site.
- Carrier Power – absolute carrier input power.
- C/N (Carrier-to-Noise ratio) – key quality indicator of signal robustness.
- Mask Analysis – verifies compliance of carrier spectral shape against predefined regulatory or operator masks.
Architecture & Compatibility
- Designed to work with the Decimator D4 Spectrum Analyzers deployed at remote monitoring sites.
- Can also integrate legacy Decimator D3 Spectrum Analyzers already in the field.
- Licensing requirements:
∙ D4 units require a Spectator (SPS) license for use with Illuminator.
∙ D3 units require a CarrierWatch license for use with Illuminator. - Provides centralized monitoring and control, so an operator at HQ or a NOC can oversee carriers across multiple geographically distributed sites.
