Calian Carrier Under Carrier Software
The Carrier-Under-Carrier (CUC) software license is an advanced analysis option for the Decimator D4. It is designed to detect, demodulate, and visualize interfering signals hidden beneath a primary carrier, a scenario common in satellite communications where unintentional or malicious carriers overlap in frequency.
Technical Features
Carrier Demodulation
- Performs demodulation of samples from the expected carrier (reference signal).
- Extracts and displays characteristics of the demodulated signal, including constellation, power, and error metrics.
Residual Spectrum Analysis
- After subtracting the main carrier, the software plots the residual trace, where interfering carriers (hidden or overlapping) may be visible.
- This allows operators to detect interference that would otherwise be masked by the dominant carrier.
Supported Standards / Carrier Type
- IESS (Intelsat Earth Station Standards): 308, 309, 310, 314.
- DVB Standards: DVB-SNG, DVB-S, DVB-S2.
Supported Modulation Types
- BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK
- 8PSK, 8/16QAM
- 16/32APSK
- 64QAM
Licensing Model
- Each Decimator D4 unit requires its own CUC license (licensed per device, not site-wide).
Compatibility
- Supported on Decimator D4 Spectrum Analyzers (PCIe, Portable, and Multi-Port models) with demodulation capability.
- Requires the device to already support DVB-S/S2/S2X demodulation functions.
- Installed via the Decimator’s license management system (license file upload).
