Poynting HELI-42 Bi-Directional Dual-Band Wi-Fi Antenna for Tunnel Connectivity and IoT Automation

The HELI-42 forms part of the Mini-HELI antenna series. These antennas are compact in size relative to their larger counterparts, the HELI-3, HELI-4, and HELI-8, but offer medium to high gain. This makes them well-suited for mining tunnels where IoT/M2M connectivity is deployed, and they can also be used for coverage into stopes.
The HELI-42 is a dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi antenna, radiating in both directions (bi-directional). This makes it suitable for coverage of both Wi-Fi bands in mining and other tunnel environments. These antennas are typically used for IoT deployments within tunnels to provide telemetry and support mine automation.
The antenna is available in both Left-Hand Circular (LHC) and Right-Hand Circular (RHC) polarised elements, enabling optimal decorrelation within 4×4 MIMO or 2×2 MIMO deployments when used with the BRKT-46. This results in improved performance through a combination of polarisation and spatial diversity, enhancing MIMO efficiency and RF reliability in mining tunnels.
The dual-band Wi-Fi signal propagates around tunnel bends in non-line-of-sight scenarios and provides improved resilience against common signal-obstructing equipment such as trains and drilling machinery that may partially or fully obscure the tunnel path.
