The HELI-13 forms part of a series of Mini-HELI antennas. These antennas are only mini in size relative to their larger counterparts, the HELI-3, HELI-4, and HELI-8, but offer medium to high gain. This makes them ideal for mining tunnels where IoT/M2M connectivity is deployed, and they can also be used for coverage into stopes.
The HELI-13 is a dual-band antenna set supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. It radiates in one direction (uni-directional), making it suitable for coverage of both frequency bands in mining and other tunnel environments. These antennas are typically used for IoT deployments within tunnels to provide telemetry and support mine automation.
These antennas are available in both Left-Hand Circular (LHC) and Right-Hand Circular (RHC) polarised antenna elements. This enables optimal decorrelation within a MIMO deployment when used with the BRKT-45, delivering improved performance through combined polarisation diversity and spatial diversity. This enhances MIMO efficiency and RF reliability in demanding mining tunnel environments.
The dual-band Wi-Fi signal propagates around tunnel bends in non-line-of-sight scenarios and provides improved resilience against common signal-obstructing equipment such as trains and drilling machinery that may partially or fully obscure the tunnel path.
