The Walton Hot Air De-Ice system is designed to prevent accumulation of snow and ice on the Earth Station Antenna to ensure peak operation during inclement weather. There is a plenum created by enclosing the rear structure of the antenna with heaters and fans mounted inside on the antenna structure. The heaters provide circulating hot air inside plenum, which warms all components of the reflector and feed to prevent ice and/or snow from accumulating. Unlike electric pad or heat tape anti-ice systems the Walton Hot Air De-Ice System heats the entire antenna reflector and back structure uniformly. This minimizes the chances of reflector distortion which can cause signal problems caused by thermal expansion and contraction. To control the de-ice system, the DS4 detects precipitation and temperature and switch on or off the heaters only when a specific profile is achieved.

The DP- 7EX remote control/status display panels coupled with the DS-4 provides an efficient solution to remotely monitor and control your de-icing system. The DP-7EX provides de-ice status for the de-icing system, along with Manual on, Automatic, and Standby control capabilities. The DP-7EX also allows monitoring thermal switches, on up to eight antenna points, to confirm that heat is being applied where required. The DP-7EX also can be connected to most M&C Systems. The connection between the DS4 and the DP-7EX is achieved by a Multi-conductor cable, specify length, 100’ standard.
