The HORNET flyaway terminal is a compact-sized mobile multiband solution supplied with the
integrated Outdoor PIM® (Paradigm Interface Module). Combining both optimal performance and
functionality, the HORNET terminal is enabled to provide access to the most advanced IP satellite
services on high speed networks over X, Ku or Ka-Band.
Terminal Overview
The HORNET multiband terminal is lightweight, rugged and quick to deploy and stow. The design is simple and robust for fast operation in demanding environments. The modular segmented carbon-fiber antenna provides maximum efficiency and optimum radiation characteristics for improved data throughput and availability. It deploys quickly and accurately without the need for tools. The integrated RF module houses a BUC, PLS (Paradigm Location Sensor), LNB and all associated waveguide components in a compact unit. The quick change-out feature allows the operator to transition between X, Ku, Ka and Mil-Ka-Bands rapidly. The Outdoor PIM includes integrated adjustable legs to provide a low center of gravity, which maintains stability. Pointing the antenna is a very simple operation using the Outdoor PIM’s integrated visual pointing aid combining crosshairs and audio feedback. The PIM includes an onboard web interface with a step-by-step pointing wizard and additional visual indicators of signal strength and other useful terminal information. The terminal is supplied in a flight case or backpack as required.
